Who we are and what this covers

These terms govern your use of Narrale, a writing application operated by the person named in the Impressum. Creating an account or using the service means you agree to them.

They are written to be read. Where a sentence has to be precise it is precise, but nothing here is hiding behind length. If a clause is unclear, ask and we will explain it in plain words.

Your account

You need an account to write in Narrale. You must be at least 16, give an email address you control, and keep your sign-in details to yourself. A paid subscription can only be taken out by someone who is at least 18. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.

One account is for one person. Inviting collaborators to a story is a feature of the product and always welcome; sharing a single login between people is not.

Your writing stays yours

You keep every right in what you write. We claim no ownership, no licence to publish it, and no share of anything you go on to sell.

To run the service we need narrow permission for the obvious mechanical things: store your text, move it between your devices, back it up, and pass the parts you select to our AI provider when you invoke an AI feature. That permission exists to operate Narrale and for nothing else. We do not train models on your writing, and the permission ends when you delete the work.

What you may not do

Do not use Narrale for anything unlawful, do not upload work you have no right to, and do not use it to produce material that sexualises children, incites violence, or targets a real person with harassment.

Do not attack the service: no attempts to reach other people’s accounts, no automated scraping, no reselling access, and no working around usage limits or credit allowances.

Plans, prices and payment

Narrale has a free tier and paid subscriptions billed monthly or yearly. Prices appear on the pricing page in your local currency where we can determine it, and include VAT wherever VAT applies.

Payments are handled by Paddle.com Market Ltd as Merchant of Record. Paddle, not us, is your contract partner for the purchase itself: Paddle takes the payment, issues the invoice, and handles VAT, and Paddle’s buyer terms apply to that transaction. Your card details go to Paddle and never reach us. Invoices and receipts come from Paddle, and a billing question can go to either of us.

A subscription renews automatically for the same period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in your account settings; it takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and the paid features stay available until then. We do not charge a cancellation fee, and we do not pro-rate part-months.

Right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer in the EU you may withdraw from a subscription within 14 days of taking it out, without giving a reason. Your contract partner for the purchase is Paddle.com Market Ltd as Merchant of Record, so the withdrawal is addressed to Paddle and Paddle’s buyer terms apply, including the withdrawal and refund rules set out there. If you declare the withdrawal to us instead, we pass it on to Paddle without delay.

Paddle’s terms also say when that right ends early, in particular once you have agreed for the service to start at once and have begun using it within the 14 days. Refunds go back through Paddle to the payment method you used.

AI features

The editorial lenses, Story Bible extraction and continuity tracking send the text you select to a third-party AI provider, named in the Privacy Policy, and return a reading of it. They produce suggestions, not verdicts: output can be wrong, can miss things, and is never a substitute for your own judgement or for a human editor.

AI features spend credits allocated by your plan. Allowances, models and the provider may change as the underlying services change; where a change materially reduces what your plan includes, we will tell you in advance and you may cancel.

Availability

We work to keep Narrale up and your writing safe, and we take backups. We do not promise a particular uptime figure, and there will be maintenance windows, outages and the occasional bug.

Narrale is actively developed: features get added, changed and sometimes removed. Export whenever you like — every story comes out as DOCX, EPUB, PDF or Markdown — and that export is deliberately the safety net that makes the rest of this paragraph tolerable.

Ending the agreement

You can stop at any time: cancel the subscription in settings, or delete your account outright. Deleting the account removes your stories from our live systems, so export anything you want to keep first. The export covers the stories you own and everything made around them; it leaves out version history and AI-generated reports, which you can ask us for before you delete.

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that is being used to attack the service, or where the law requires it. Unless the breach is serious or we have no choice, we will warn you first and give you a chance to export your work. If we close a paid account without cause, we refund the unused part of the period.

Liability

We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the Product Liability Act, and to the extent we have given a guarantee.

For slight negligence we are liable only where an obligation essential to the contract has been breached — one whose fulfilment makes proper performance possible in the first place, and on which you may reasonably rely. Liability is then limited to the damage typically foreseeable for a contract of this kind. Any further liability is excluded.

Please keep your own copies: the export function exists so that your work always lives somewhere besides Narrale, and we would rather you never need it. Asking that does not narrow the liability described above.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms where there is good reason — a new feature, a change in the law, or a change in how the service is run. We will email you at least 30 days before a change that affects you takes effect.

If you do not accept a change, cancel before it takes effect and we will refund the unused part of the period you paid for. Continuing to use Narrale after that date counts as acceptance.

Applicable law

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer resident in another EU country, you keep the protection of any mandatory provisions of the law where you live — nothing in this clause can take those away.

We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 VSBG). The European Commission’s online dispute resolution platform closed on 20 July 2025, so there is no longer a platform to point you to.
